Defender Wolf RAD HAZ / Thermal Insulation kit??

G'day all,

Just putting out the feelers to see if anyone has purchased and fitted the Defender Wolf rad haz / thermal insulation kit?
I have just ordered one from the UK and am looking forward to getting it. If anyone has already done the fit, any tricks/issues and is there much difference? (too late now as I have bought it!!)

I have had mine for 6 months, keep meaning to get it fitted, suppose now its winter might be a good idea

Out of Interest what did they charge you shipping?

I don't know how to do hand in front of mouth!! But $140 postage. It is always the killer from the UK. The other place I was looking at were charging nearly 140 pounds postage!!

$140 for something of that size is very good. More than what you probably paid for the part too.

Unfortunately what with the change in exchange rates and the increases in both fuel, transportation and a rise in the goods themselves, theres been a big price increase, over the last 12 months we have seen a 17% increase in costs, gone and going are the days when the Uk was a cheap place to buy things.

I think $190 total delivered is pretty good for what it is. However, when the postage is 3 times the cost of the item! That being said, I have just bought some other bits and pieces from the UK, and the postage was cheaper that what it was to get something of smaller size from QLD??? Go figure...

If you go to the olde fleabay UK and search Defender Wolf RAD HAZ kit thermal insulation and any combos similar!!!
I stumbled across them looking for a replacement soft top.
A few guys list them from time to time over there. Most don't offer postage to Aus in the listing..... just ask them and they will generally give you a quote. Postage quotes I got were from 75 pounds to 140 pounds. Expect the kit will be from 20 pounds upwards..... I paid 25 for mine. If that helps you.
The guy I got mine isn't listing any at the moment, I will send him a message and ask him if he as more if you like?

Essentially it is a foam lined with aluminium foil. This is then wrapped in a pvc like cover. It basically fits on to the 110 like the canvas soft top but sits underneath it.
They are designed for the UK operators so that they have less exposure to the radio transmissions. However, it has been said that these kits offer good thermal protection, ie keep it warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.....and keeps the water off you

So the thermal rad haz kit arrived today, it took about a week to get here from the UK. I will keep you updated with the fit out!!

G'day all.....

So I have managed to fit the rad haz kit with only just a few more bits to secure down. It is a little bit fiddly, but pretty easy for the most part. The kit comes with three sections, cab, middle and rear...and it weighs about 7kg all up. It has straps, buckles and velcros too for the fitment. The kit I bought did not have instrcutions, but was easy enough to work out how it went together.

I noticed instantly the difference in temperature in the rover while I was fitting it, when driving, and the noise has reduced quite alot. Mainly the noise from the canopy and wind, but, it was a massive improvement from what it was before fitting it. It certainly has a more comfortable feel inside now, and I can even feel the heater working!!!!!

YEP!!! No more flapping canvas noise!!!!
