50-331 LANDED IN WA
« on: May 21, 2014, 08:09:36 PM »
After a wait and a dodged derailment 50-331 finally arrived yesterday (no call to tell me it was at Prixcar) and I brought her home.
Pretty straight but as usual the canopy had come out of the clamp and there was water in the footwells.
Started and drove well! Just like a cross between a series and a defender but all the good bits. Got a wave from another defer on the way home.
There's alist forming of bits I want to hunt down but the only things requiring immeadiate attention is the dragging brake sound (not sure if park or wheel) and the horn coming on when I turn left (but not working when I push it).
Now just after I bought it I let the "Tommy Landrover Library" know the ARN and while "in-service" perentie pics are not so common, mine has been a bit of a poster model when it was in........Iraq!
Turns out it was one of 4 110's AUSCDT3 used during their deployment to Iraq . Not sure if it came back then or got loan pooled but some time after that "Spanner Roo 1" has been painted on the wings. I don't usually name my cars but this one has come pre-named.
Quite a few pics of her in on deployment too. Enjoy.

Very nice well done.

Same as what I have said, they are really the perfect land Rover sits in the middle between Series and Puma.

Yes, she may be a bit tatty but she's straight so with new paint Spanner roo will look great.
Just need to fix a few mechanicals and I might give the pits a go.
I have to say a big thanks to Dodge1942. I  got the vehicle from him and was really relying on his word as to the condition.
I'm very pleased to say that all was as described and he went over and above to deliver the vehicle as well as a couple of other favours.
Cheers T!

Nice to own some history, I have a couple from Vietnam and now a 110 that spent nearly 10 years in Afghanistan - so I know it's a good feeling to own something that will be well respected in the future (if not now)

cheers
Scott

Looks great Cliffy! It must have got the new brushguard pretty recently. But what on earth has happened to that bonnet? It must've been one heck of a sandstorm  :D

Cheers guys.
Tommy came over for an eyeball and I can safely say he was suitably impressed and may have even been bitten by the Perentie bug......
Found another partial pic last night which I'm sure is the same vehicle.
Starting the list of bits I need to put right.
Might try to get her over the pits as is but paint and looking clean does grease the wheels  bit.

Looks like we'd better organise a Perentie day out. There are 3 here in Kal plus one in Coolgardie.
