the yanks had started a fire, during a live fire ex and the rover had run out of fuel and abandoned and the rest is history

An Alpha Coy patrol lost an RFSV that was cached while foot patrolling near Laura IIRC, in about '93-94.
That was a wildfire thought, not from ordnance.
