Nice one MC !  Perhaps the winch as well ?

I got an answer on the engine:

" Hi
It might have seized Ian was towed home about 4 years ago, and it has not been dealt with since.
I cannot put a crank handle in it to test whether we can turn it over because of the location of the winch
Hope that info helps Thanks for the interest "

That's a lot of money for something with a stuffed engine.... unless you had a spare sitting around :)

Cheers

Yep never had an oil change in 25 years. Ian kept driving them until they broke down then started driving the next one that would go. Oh except the fire tender that he rolled down the hill into a power pole when opening the gate, it now turns corners without moving the steering wheel. Lol

This sounds more like abusing them, not cherishing them.

Each to their own. Most would agree. Appears those on epay now at $1,300 may have cost 2-3 times that much at auction, so taking into account the time value of money, foregone interest or foregone super investments, Ian may have taken a hit for the benefit of other collectors. He has possibly been good to us all in preserving this heritage at his own loss.

Hello Mike, sad to see Ian's cherished collection being broken up. I recall you were friends with the great man and great land rover enthusiast. I might try to pickup that 2a and bulbar and ute top I bought from you when I get a few items I have bought from Ian. Regards.

Hmmm..........
Now that you mention it.......
My old bus from 2/14 LHQMI in 88/89ish.(first photo). It was the worst land rover experience I had, as the A/C unit above the cab made it to top heavy and prone to landing on its side on tracks in SWBTA.It was deemed unsuitable for an armoured unit and returned to supply prior to ex K89.That said I wouldnt mind it now.

Ha John, when I was in that same Illustrious Unit at the same time we always thought the M113 Bucket was also unsuitable for an Armoured Corps Unit.  Ha.

Not sure if this would be of use to anyone, being in Hobart and a bit heavy to post interstate.

It appears to be the complete pintle hook from the back of a landy.
