Wrecker in Paddock.
« on: June 08, 2012, 10:02:05 PM »
What has become of this wrecker? The first photo shows it to be in good condition. The second shows that it has deteriorated.

Why can't this wrecker be saved?

Hi there Tommy

Its a pity as they seem to be a rare machine - I must admit with other vehicles whin the pictures it seems to be a enthusists playground or a horder...........

Can it be saved - as i suspect you have spoken to the owner?

Is that a Cab 11 Blitz or is it an 8 CWT (hundredweight) type 1939/40 as it doesn't look like a Morris Commercial ?

That Recovery/Wrecker conversion definatly needs to be saved  ;)

The carrier in the 2nd pic is the 2 pdr anti tank variant and a very rare machine.

Having a look in that second pic, there is a US cab Lend-Lease Chev about 1.5ton Mil, 3ton civilian, and what looks like the front of a 39 type Chev, and the corner of a Blitz tipper chassis, and a Cab 13 in the background.

Collector/Horder me thinks, know of another one a few years ago, he died, widow called Sims Metal  :'(

cheers

I was led to believe that this wrecker and it's collector owner were well known to you eastern states guys. It apparently belongs to a reclusive collector of military vehicles in Victoria or NSW. I think Richard O may know some more.

We need to make an effort to contact the owner and persuade him/her to sell.

These items are in Vic, i believe the 2PDR was bought by a collector for a lot of money a couple of years ago.

I don't know the whereabouts of said vehicles in the pix, but one thing I can tell you all, is that the pix are at least as old as the original REMLR site, so they are nothing new so to speak, cheers Dennis :)

even if he wont sell, ask if we can take craploads of photos, get all the details possible of how its set up,
inside, outside front rear under, measure anything you could like length of boom etc (photo of tape measure is quick enough)...

that way if nothing else a replica could be made and the details are recorded...

as said on here before such a pity, ...

Hey Tommy,
As discussed before about another enthusiast, they're his, he paid for them and he can do whatever he wants with them.
We must respect this.
If you PM me any details you know, I might go for a drive and ask the owner if I can take lots of Photo's.

Which reminds me, Scott, we must pay a visit to our mate down the road and take lots of photo's of his treasures.

I know nothing about this wrecker Mick. I only posted the photos as I thought someone over your way would know about it.
