Title: FFR Roof Rack
Post by: cb on December 01, 2018, 12:26:08 PM
Can anyone tell me the weight-bearing specs of the FFR standard Roof Rack? I want to take a 3ft slasher (170 kg)  up to my rugged mountain farm. Is it safe to carry it on the roof rack?

I would say definitely not! A hard roofed Land Rover is not rated for anywhere near that amount never mind the very flimsy mesh rack on an FFR-which is only held on by four bolts.

Yeah, it's only designed to carry cam nets and poles..... at a guess, perhaps 20-30kg or so ?

Those four bolts are the key bit.... if you grossly overload you run the risk of them shearing off in a sudden stop or accident.

Cheers.

Many thanks all responders. Yes, while the FFR rack can carry timber planks etc, sadly it won't carry my slasher. I'll have to try for a Frontline  trailer.
