Title: Dull Headlights on Perentie
Post by: DetV on May 14, 2018, 09:44:50 PM
Whilst checking the correct wire to tap for high beam control of my spotties I noticed that the voltage on the high beam line at the headlight was a mere 9.8v whilst the battery voltage was 12.1v.  That's a voltage drop of 2.3v on the high beam feed line. No wonder the headlights are so dull.

Without compromising the Army appearance of the vehicle, what do you suggest to improve the brightness of the stock headlights?

The fix is relays and higher cap wiring to permit full power to headlights

well known problem with 110s due to all headlight power going through main switch -  causes switch failure (contacts) eventually

These New Era ones are the same as those used for ome installation of DLs on 110 RFSVs.

I prefer to use them instead of slightly cheaper clones which are also on ebay.

Narva sell a good quality wired replacement headlight plug

What did the EMEI on the headlight circuit achieve? Have we got a copy?

I've not seen it - it would be interesting to see how/if it varies from the cure of installing relays.

It is just replacing the headlight relay (the one that is triggered by ignition so you can't leave your headlights on with the car off) with a link cable. I don't know why you would need to be able to leave the headlights on without the ignition on - particularly in a vehicle that has no keys - but the army obviously thought it was necessary.

This is something I wrote on the subject years ago:

The pictures disappeared when Photobucket held them all to ransom, but I can get more if necessary.

If you send me the photo's, or a link to them, I can reinstate them in that post.

Also I'd like the MOD number so we could easily check the MOD plate and tell if its been done already.
Didn't we have a list of MODs somewhere?
